I prefer this spelling to Guinevere because it doesn't trip my English-speaking-only eyes up. I like the nickname Gwen, too.
Princess Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders (PGJR, also known outside of North America as Starla & the Jewel Riders, and sometimes spelled as the more traditionally Arthurian "Guinevere") is a 1995–1996 American comic fantasy-themed girl audiences-aimed animated television series produced by Bohbot Entertainment in association with Hong Ying Animation Company Limited. It was internationally syndicated by Bohbot on their Syndicated Amazin' Adventures block where it originally run for two 13-episode seasons.
The Arthurian legend was spelled Guinevere, not Gwenevere. If the name sounds too close, try Ginerva or Jennifer. They mean the same thing. Fair complexion. Light skinned. A good Welsh, French, Dutch, or Germanic name for a girl.
Stop hating on this name! It is a modern take on “Guinevere” which some people today have never heard of and could easily mispronounce! Personally, I like the pronunciation of “Guinevere” but dislike the spelling of “guin”. I think Gwenevere is elegant and sweet. Yes, it’s a little mismatched, but a good middle name and certainly not tacky!
This is a bad name? It doesn’t really sound that bad! Only 21% or 20% voted this name bad. I love this name! I also love the nickname Gwen!
And I thought the (already Welsh) variant Guenevere was bad.
This is a completely tacky spelling. Just go with Guinevere.
I personally would not name my daughter this. I think it sounds too medieval and strange.
