Count Olaf uses this name as a disguise in A Series of Unfortunate Events in The Ersatz Elevator (book/Netflix episodes).
All I can think of is Gunther from Friends. He is in love with Rachel and has a creepy deep voice and bright white hair. A recurring character, Gunther often appears at Central Perk as the coffee house's manager. He usually is in the background staring at Rachel and getting jealous of her male lovers, and is fluent in Dutch. I didn't even know this was a real name - I had never heard it before and thought it must be made up. Anyway, just sounds a tad bit sketchy to me, but that's just my opinion.
Great middle name material, in my opinion. German jock name.
I really like the German ending of this tough, strong name.
The name Gunther seems very grey in my opinion, but it is still a stand-out name.
This is the spelling Wagner uses for the Burgundian king in the Ring cycle, and the one I've seen in most sources about the Nibelungenlied. Gunther is actually the original spelling of the name, and the form with the umlaut originated in the Middle Ages (and then got extremely popular in Germany in the 20s-30s), so this spelling is probably the most accurate one for the Burgundian king.
This doesn't hold much relevance, but this name is used for one of the pre-made characters on the Sims, "Gunther Goth".
Pronounced GUWN-ter. [noted -ed]
