The Irish version of the Hebrew name Deborah meaning "honey bee". Though it is translated as "Cause of Joy" (Abigail), the beekeeper nun Abigail, was more commonly known as Deborah. She would use honey to heal: In traditional Irish (Celtic) culture, bees denote similarly along with what butterflies do, the departing soul. In England the abbess Gobnait/Abigail is known as Deborah.(Information from name #441751 originally submitted by an anonymous user)

It rhymes with goblet. I really like that Gobnait was the saint of beekeepers. That is so awesome.
Saint Gobnait is the patron saint of Ballyvourney County Cork. There is a Shrine and holy well were people can visit her Church, well, grave and house. She is also the patron saint of beekeepers.

How exactly is it a form of Deborah? Is it just that it's usually anglicised to Deborah?

Saint Gobnait is also the patron saint of Irish beekeepers, and the name Deborah means "honey bee", so Gobnait is sometimes anglicized as Deborah because of the association.
