Giorgos Karagounis is a former Greek professional footballer. In his club career he has played for Panathinaikos, Apollon Smyrni, Internazionale, Benfica and Fulham.Internationally, Karagounis represented the Greece national team between 1999 and 2014. He was a member of the Euro 2004 winning squad, and also represented Greece in Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup, Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup. With 139 appearances, he is the most capped player in the history of the Greek national team.
Giorgos Seferis was a Greek poet-diplomat. He was one of the most important Greek poets of the 20th century, and a Nobel laureate. He was a career diplomat in the Greek Foreign Service, culminating in his appointment as Ambassador to the UK, a post which he held from 1957 to 1962.
Giorgos Angelopoulos is a Greek shipping and steel magnate. He is the co-owner of the basketball team Olympiacos, along with his brother Panagiotis Angelopoulos.
