Meaning & History
From Hebrew גֵּיחֲזִי (Gēḥăzī) meaning "valley of vision", from Hebrew גיא (gáy) "valley, gorge, ravine" and חָזוֹן (khazón) "vision". This was the name of the servant of the prophet Elisha who misuses his authority to cheat Naaman the Syrian. As punishment, Elisha cursed Gehazi, transferring Naaman's leprosy to him and his descendants forever.
