Idk why but I really like this as a nickname, I wouldn't use it as a first name I might use it as a middle name. As long as they're not ginger.

Pros : it sounds unforgettable and is a hard name to be mispronounced.Cons : when I hear it, I can only think of a fat, old or mid-aged man with big glasses.
Well, Freddie is Eddie's pet frog on Little People. Also...Fred isn't one of my favorites. It's too nicknamey and bland. Fred reminds me too much of Mister Roger's neighborhood, Scooby Doo, and the Flintsones. Those aren't very bad associations, but still. Frederick is nice, though. Fred would be okay as a nickname for Frederick.
This name strikes me instantly as masculine with a good athletic and academic mix. It is traditional and I think of an All-American type man or boy, a college baseball or football player.

I used to like this name. But Fred Phelps ruined it! I hate this name now! No offense to any Freds out there!
