Meaning unknown. Possibly related to Old Norse fela "to hide", Norwegian fjela "to spy" or Old Norse fjǫl "much, manifold".In Norse mythology this is the name of several giants, a rooster, and a dwarf. The dwarf Fjalarr, with the help of his brother Galarr, murdered Kvasir and brewed the mead of the skalds from his blood.
