Meaning & History
Derived from Greek ευ (eu) meaning "good, well" combined with Greek δαίμων (daimon) meaning "god, goddess, divine power, spirit". Also compare Greek εὐδαιμονία (eudaimonia) (derived from the same two roots), which is the name for the Greek concept of happiness. Finally, in late Greek times, a known bearer of this name was the father of the Greek orator Aelius Aristides (2nd century AD), who himself was a priest of Zeus.
