Eter

Since it recently emerged that the proper form is actually Eter (vocative case) and not Eteri (nominative case), the correct name of the opera in English should be "Abesalom and Eter". The current English translation of the opera's name preserves the Georgian grammar, which it should not. A proper translation must abide by the rules of English grammar.

Also, the opera was directly based on the medieval Georgian folk epic "Eteriani", which is estimated to have been written in the 10th or 11th century. This means that the Georgians have been familiar with the name Eter since the 10th or 11th century... and not since 1919, which is when the opera premiered. As such, I am of the opinion that "Eteriani" deserves a mention in the description of the name Eter. [noted -ed]
