Love this name. It manages the difficult challenge of being feminine, but not being fluffy and weak. It's spunky and strong, and I'd love to see it make a resurgence. Yay for Erica!
Putting an "a" on the end of a harsh masculine name doesn't make it pretty or feminine. It still sounds harsh and ugly.

This is my name and I hate it. Every time someone calls me by this name it feels like a slap in the face. If you are considering this name, please think about how it flows with your surname. I have a very short 1 syllable surname that begins with a harsh G sound. When you say my whole name it is very unpleasant to say and hear because of the combination of the harsh -ica ending and harsh G of my surname. I actually love my surname, but it does not work at all with my given name. Even without the poor planning of my given and surname, I am not a fan of Erica. It strikes me as a boring and ugly name. Also some of my friends called me Ica as a nickname, so keep that in mind as well.
I love the name Erica! I would use it if it didn't kind of rhyme with my surname. If only they didn't rhyme... I totally recommend this name. Time for a comeback.
I also agree that Erica is a very nice and appropriate name for a girl. As the others say, it is not too ordinary, sounds good, is easy to pronounce and it has charm. In Spain it is also common, but personally I have not met many Ericas, actually only one. I think it's a wonderful name and it should be a bit more popular (a bit, not too much xD).
I was born in 1968 (Sydney Australia), my name is Erica (Joanne) and I love it! NOW. Growing up in the 70's no-one had ever heard of the name. I felt like an outcast and that I didn't belong, I begged my parents to change my name to Karen, I knew many Karens! They said I could do this when I was 18. Thank God! I could not cope with the name Karen now... in Australia... Karen, Sharon and Darren are all "house-o bogan names... cringe! I really love my name and thank my beautiful dad for naming me this (he was English with German heritage) - he actually thought he had named me the German version of the name, but alas, the German spelling is with a "K". I find this a tad harsh though - I actually like the Scandinavian variant. PS My mum wanted to call me either Bronwyn Ruth or Jennifer Ruth... bloody awful! Cheers Dad for calling me ERICA! And my husband loves it - always googles the German marching song Erika...
Also used in Romania (you'll find bearers on social media).

I have always found Erica to be a sexy name...better for a brunette and known but not too common. Erica is the better spelling and overall pretty feminine name.
My name is Erica! When I was in grade nine I went through an identity crisis where I spelled it Airicka, lol that lasted 6 months. I’ve always gone by Erica, no nicknames and named after Erica Cane a soap opera character. I think it’s strong and simple. I hate fluffy names so I dig my name. Side note; ever since I was a baby my kin decided to call me Erica Jane and will often refer to me as just Jane lol. Cathryn is my middle name. And now I’ve come to really love the name Jane.

I thought I'd commented a long time ago, but I can't find it - anyway, this is my name. I've had it for almost 30 years, and there have been many ups and downs. When I was a little girl, I hated my name: the -ica ending sounded harsh to my ears (though I found the comparatively more popular Jessica to be much more elegant), and people - especially teachers - CONSTANTLY misspelled it! Even more distant family members kept spelling my name as Erika for the longest time. (Strangely enough, every Erika I've ever met has had her name constantly misspelled as Erica. Both are legitimate spellings in different languages, but it's funny how things work out. I'm convinced the Aidans & Aidens of the new generation will run into the exact same problem. There's one every generation!)Eventually, I grew to appreciate my name. It's familiar without being overly common, and easy for other people to remember. I also think my spelling is super easy to write, particularly in cursive, so that's a plus. And while I don't outright have synesthesia, the color impression Erica gives me is PINK. It's no coincidence that that's the color theme displayed in the banner on Erica's page, this has to be one of the pinkest names in existence. It's almost ludicrous how pink Erica is! (My personal name tastes tend to give me a dark red, green, or blue impression, no pastels; so my own name is in a completely separate "genre," so to speak.)
This is my sister's name and I love it, even better than any other spelling like Erika because it feels like it flows nicer. Also one of the meanings of this is ruler, and my nickname for my sister is ez. I know it sounds a bit weird but it is actually a really nice nickname for her.
My name is Erica and I love it. It is so beautiful.

Usually around late winter, the Erica (Heath) flowers spring up all around the bushland near my house in pretty pink and white. I know my name means 'powerful ruler' but I feel closer to the flower association.
The name Erica was given to 346 girls born in the US in 2016. More than 99.9 percent of people with the first name Erica are female.

Erica Bartolina is an American pole vaulter. She set a personal best of 4.55 m by placing third at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, which guaranteed her a qualifying place for the Olympics.
My name is Erica. I read on another post that girls named Erica were bratty as children but became nicer with age. I completely agree. As a child, I was known to be rude and selfish by my friends who just recently told me their old impressions of me! Now they say that I am friendly and legitimately nice. Other than that, the name Erica is classy and won't go out of style. It may come and go from the popularity charts but will always be respected. Personally, I like the spelling "Erica" more than other variants with a "k" or "ck" because it is natural.

I love this name. I like the spelling Erika a little bit better, but I still love this variation.

This is my name and I like it. I like it much better than the similar and more popular Erin. I think it is much more feminine since it ends in an a sound. However I am disappointed how its popularity is rapidly decreasing. I don't understand why some names like Fatima, Nevaeh and Yaretzi are being used more than Erica now. I know my name is starting to become outdated but in the future I don't want to be one of those people with an "old lady name". So hopefully it will start becoming more popular.
I think Erica is a great name. It's beautiful, smart and classy sounding. :D@erilynn25 Um, you're actually comparing the name Fatima that is full of history and has an actual meaning to the made up name Nevaeh? Erica, just because a name is a different language to your name doesn't make it equal to meaningless names like Nevaeh. ^^;The reason the name Fatima ranks higher than Erica in the popularity chart in many countries is because Islam is one of the major religions of the world and there are Muslims who live all around the world. Fatima has always been a popular Islamic name for Muslims. Lots of Muslims are very traditional with their name choices. Fatima will always continue to be used by Muslims just like Michael and John will always continue to be used by Christians. The reason Erica is not as popular is simply because trends have changed. At one point your name was very popular. Some names go down in popularity, some names rank up, some stay the same. I'm guessing your name is out of style because it doesn't fit in with the cute, trendy, girly style names used at the moment like Emily, Ava, Grace etc.Don't worry about people thinking your name is old. Your name is very beautiful just like all the less used names out there too. Don't let names that are more popular than others make you feel the less popular names (e.g. yours) are less beautiful. :)
Erica (best spelling) is my name and it is a beautiful name. Most people call me Eri. But my dad wanted a name similar to his name Derek. When I was born Erica Kane was so popular from All My Children and he thought it was perfect; hence my name. I am happy my name is not as popular as some other beautiful names like Nicole, Heather, or Elizabeth.

This is my name. I was born in 1993, when it was quite popular. I do find it a bit dated, but I much prefer it spelled this way over any other combination of letters.
I liked this name when I was about 12. I thought it was rarer back then, and despite its popularity for my birth year (92) I have not met many Ericas. It sounds like the name of an intelligent and talented woman to me. I still might use it, as its popularity is declining.
I love the name, and I plan on naming my future daughter Erika, should I have one. Our family is Norwegian, so that particular spelling goes with our roots.
My name is Erica, spelled this way. My mom gave me this spelling because she already liked the sound, but thought the way Erica Kane on "All My Children" spelled it looked pretty!

Erica is the name of an evergreen shrub or small tree of the heath with family. The plants have small leathery leaves and bell-shaped flowers.
My name is Erica, and I haven't always liked it, though now I do. It isn't as popular anymore either, but it's still really nice. It means 'ruler of all' or 'ever powerful' and Heather in Latin.
This is my name and I think it's beautiful - I love how it's known in many cultures: Scavinavian, Latin, Japan, etc. Erica spelled this way is also a flower in Italy - which is also a part of my heritage.
The name Erica rocks, though most people spell it E-R-I-K-A, (that name is cool too) but my name has always been E-R-I-C-A and I like it a lot. I've found it means ruler of all, or ever powerful. Most Ericas I've found also are very strong too. Ericas are the best!
My name is Erica, but I find it annoying when people misspell it. I've had people write down my name as Ericka, Erika, and even Arykah. I don't understand why, since I go by the most common spelling of the name.
I prefer this name spelt with a c. I know a lot of people who spell it with a k. Either way, I like this name. It's a bit plain, but nice in its simplicity.
I've always loved the name Erica, despite the fact my mum hates it. While she liked Edwina, I liked Erica (who do you think is the sane one?) I also had a friend when I was growing up called Heather, and since that name is becoming more popular on girls these days, I think I'd call my daughter Erica so I could remember my friend without adding yet another Heather to the world.
My name is Erica and I love it. Although everyone else spells it Ericka, that's alright. I think it's pretty and my other good friend's name is Erica and she's an awesome person! Thumbs up for all Ericas. :D
I rather like my name. Only instead I spell it like, A R Y K A. It is still pronounced the same, but the spelling is different. It doesn't matter which way you spell it, it doesn't change the person's life or anything. But I guess that by spelling it my way, I have become more confident in being who I am. But it still doesn't matter how you spell it. It won't effect their personality or anything. It's just the spelling.
I think Erica is a nice name. All my friends call me Eir. I used to always want my name to be Stacey, but now that I'm 11 I respect my name more.

I think the name Erica is a lovely, short name. My name is Erica and I'm called Eir by most of my friends, but still, Erica is a great name to have.

My name is Erica but it is spelled Ericka. I love the way my name is spelled. I have looked it up many times and found that some people say it means ever powerful. My initials spell ELK so my family and friends call me LIL ELK. To all you Erickas out there we have a beautiful name.
My name is Erika with a "k". I used to hate it but now I think it's beautiful, a very sophisticated, high-class sounding name, but I don't like the common spelling "Erica". It makes me think of a really mean girl I used to know.
When I was little I hated my name, now that I'm 11 and more mature I appreciate my name because it is more sophisticated than a lot of names. But people also call me Eri (air-e).
I've always been happy with my name. These days I'll hear someone call out "Erica!" but it often turns out to be a Mom calling her daughter (usually 5 or younger)!
From personal experience, I have found that young girls under 10 with the name ERICA are spoiled brats, but, as they mature, they become very nice girls. If a girls name is ERIKA, though, they will be kind their whole life.
