I personally like this name because of its symbolism. It pops into my head a lot when I'm thinking of names for my stories (which is why i wish it wasn't used for the Little Mermaid movie). It's a really cute name for a boy, and I recommend it for someone looking to name their baby.

Eric is a very masculine, distinguished, sharp and handsome sounding name for guys... I don't care how popular this name is regardless of ages. I know around a dozen folks named Eric, but all of them are super cool and funny and hilarious and love cracking jokes all the time. My thoughts on this name : The name Eric is a classic, timeless name that has stood the test of time. It's a name that conveys strength, power, and leadership, and has been popular with parents for centuries. Even though its popularity has waned in recent years, it's still a name that is well-liked by many people including me ofc... not to mention it means RULER.
I think Eric is really pretty! And the same people complaining about the name being outdated are the same people who complain about some names being too trendy. I think it's cute.
This is just one of those names that I love for myself and others. Unfortunately, it doesn't sound good with my surname, it rhymes. If it works for you, go for it!
I’ve been studying An Inspector Calls in my English classes, and of course I’ve been hearing this name a lot more. Now I don’t like the character much, but I’ve gotten used to this name after hearing it more often and like it more than I used to. Might consider it as a middle name, but it is also a nice first name.
This is my dads name. I think it’s nice, and it had good meaning, and history. It’s a very good name. If you’re thinking about naming your kid Eric, I say go for it!

Absolutely beautiful name. My grandfather and father were/are called Eric and my sister Erica, so if I have kids I want to name one of them Eric/Erica to keep the tradition growing.

This is my name. I’m 58. Growing up was easy. I loved the name and my interest in it was wild. I am so happy to be an Eric, and I am so glad to be so loved by everyone, considering it’s simple and sweet. It’s also quite attractive, somehow. I also expected it to be WAY more common. I have enjoyed my ride throughout my whole life, and I wouldn’t trade my name for anything else.
The name Eric makes me think of the colour blue and dark grey, the ocean and the storm.I prefer the form Erik but its vibe is the same.It is a strong and wild name linked with nature in my mind.
An okay name, but just kind of boring and definitely overused. I don't like the spelling with a K on the end, it should end in a C. The best thing I can say about it is that it is a very strong and masculine name. I HATE the female version though- Erica/Erika just sounds so ugly and not very feminine.

I find Eric Trump to be an idiot as much as his father because he kills endangered animals for sport and considers democrats to not be people. But I still like this name, preferably Erik.

I've always disliked this name but now I have to like it because of Eric Trump...
My name is Eric and I was named after my grampa. I enjoy that my name is unique and awesome. What is this kingship crap, I'm just a guy that is no king by all means.
As having the name "Eric" since 1968, I've grown to like it, and like the meaning of my name: "Honorable King". So, thus, I want to keep up that name to be always honorable, even though, now I am not a King! It also has a meaning of Powerful, Ruler. I like Power, what other Eric's, don't?
To all of those concerned with the truth of the three true spelling of Eric, there is a universal hierarchy known to us. Eric is clearly the dominant spelling and the only proper spelling of this magnificent name. Erik can constitute an acceptable person however they amount to at best a low "C" on the human scale. In comparison to Erick however, an Erik can appear as a model citizen. Erick could be considered a mole person.. that's it. Eric wins.
Eric is such an ugly name. I always picture a geek when I hear this name. It also has a weird sound to it.

This has always been my favorite male name and when I used to contemplate having human children I always said I'd name my son, if I had one, Eric. I know the one with the k-ending spelling is more popular but I highly dislike it. But what really is an eyesore to me is the ck-ending spelling. That's atrocious and unnecessary. Eric with a c looks so classy, gentlemanly, strong, and what a courageous boy or young man would suit bearing accordingly. Now that I've decided I won't be having kids, I'll either name one of my cats in the future Eric or a character in one of my stories will be an Eric.
It is I! An Eric! I like the name a lot myself, especially with a C in the spelling. I make it a point of mine to surpass every Eric I meet, and I'm doing well so far. There are a bunch of Erics at my school now, but I've been here for longer than all of them. Only one of them is older than me, but I believe I've surpassed him, too, which is good. Now, the hard part will be surpassing the likes of Eric Carle, Eric Clapton, and Eric the Red. Overall, I really like the name, but I wouldn't use it for my kid since I'm not a narcissistic asshole. I would do it if it made him The Third, but he would be Jr., not the Third. And being called by your number makes you sound like a king.
Eric = So strong & forthright. Clean & Tailored. Crisp & clean. "My Eric" I have known since we were 7 yrs old. I really liked his name then, and I still do 40 odd years later. Eric is very masculine sounding, sexy and just a sharp individual. When I am talking with females about "my Eric" it's interesting that to describe my adoration, respect, absolute & unconditional & very profound love for him, I address him as my King - and I his Queen (of course). #1 with me.
I keep wanting to name characters Eric or Sam. Which is funny, because my cousin's name is Eric and my aunt's name is Sam... but I guess that's because they work on anyone. Erik, Erick or Erich are spellings of others I've met. Never met someone named Aric.
Eric is a strong name for a male. I really like the way it looks and sounds. I've been fortunate to know only good people with this name. I would probably hate it otherwise.
I've gotten used to this name. After reading Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series aka True Blood, I've fell in love with it. It's a very strong name and I do believe in the future one of my sons will be named this!

This is my brother's name. My mother originally wanted to spell it Erik, but that was uncommon when he was born (the 1970s). Also, he was born very sickly and she didn't want him to stand out for being sick and having a strangely spelt name, so she took the traditional route. Then he got better. Haha. But Eric is neither a jock nor is he Asian. He's a computer master who speaks to technology using his Jedi mind powers. That's what I think, anyway.
For some reason, the name Eric has always made me think of a prince. (: Weird, maybe, but I love this name! :DD

See, I know this is a VERY common name. I myself think it is very manly. Plus, it's really simple and short. I'm glad it's not a long drag of letters or something along that. I think it's an excellent name to name your baby. For the weirdos who don't like the name, I think it's best not to flame on it!
Whenever I hear the name Eric, I think of Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid. It's a short, sensible name. I prefer the name "Eadric," the name of a prince in 'The Tales of the Frog Princess' by E. D. Baker.

The name itself is okay, but almost all Erics I've heard or read about have been nasty people somehow, which is why I have grown to dislike the name.
My dad's name is Eric John and I love the usage of two such classic names. Sounds to me like a knight in medieval times. Reminiscent of chivalry and all that jazz. Of course, I could just be biased.
A very good name, very cute. My associations. -Eric Foreman (one of the main characters of "That '70s Show") -Prince Eric (in the Little Mermaid) -Erik, the real name of the Phantom of the Opera.
Eric is a very cute name but one of the most annoying boys in my class is called Eric. I can not recall a Eric I've actually liked. I think it would be this disturbing fact that'd keep me from naming my child Eric.

I have always really liked the name Eric. It's simple and nice. My cousin is named Eric, so I don't know if I'll ever end up using it, but it's a great name.
