Meaning & History
Derived from the Greek adjective ἐπαινετός (epainetos) meaning "praised, praiseworthy, laudable", itself a derivative of the Greek noun ἔπαινος (epainos) meaning "approval, praise, commendation". Also compare the Greek adjective αἰνετός (ainetos) meaning "praiseworthy".This was the name of an early Christian saint, mentioned in Paul's epistle to the Romans in the New Testament and considered one of the seventy disciples.
