I really like the fact that this is a male name that has been derived from a female name. Usually it's the other way round, so this is a really special name. As for the name itself, it's very nice. Old-fashioned but strong.

Sounds like an old circus animal… Too much like enema… Just awful that has a very harsh sound too much like dammit.
I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE THE LEGO MOVIE, masterpiece in fact and possibly the greatest thing that has been bestowed upon this earth. BUT upon further inspection you'll realize that people named Emmett are scum, all they do is cry about how I took their feeding tube. Oh ¨waaa waaa where is my food please stop stuffing mayo in my feeding tube Syd¨ am I right or am I right? Absolute icky gross human beings with nice fluctuate abs that lead all the way up to their throat, ¨when will the madness end¨ is a quote from an Eminem song and perfectly sums up that disgusting nature of ¨people¨ named Emmett. Now I got one question for the sheep that think the name Emmett is normal. Where are your balls? Listen Emmetts, you have two options, MAN UP OR MOVE TO CALIFORNIA.
Emmett is a very masculine name in my opinion. I absolutely adore it. Love it so much we have chosen this name for our son due in about two weeks!

As for Jay or Kay, Emmett seems to me a way to write the letter M (em, eme, emme).I came across it for the first time in the Twilight saga so a person with this name is tall and muscular in my mind.To me Emmett is perfect for a woodcutter, a ranger, a cowboy or even a soldier.I also know that Emet (אמת) is 'truth' in Hebrew, the famous word to wake Golem. All these links make it more stereotyped and only fictional to my ears.
The name Emmett is awesome. Powerful. Truthful. Traditional. Brilliant. Handsome. Intense. Spiritual. Everything you would want in a name and a person. I might think of Emmett Till when I hear the name Emmett, but not the cruelty that was imposed upon him. Emmett Till was probably a really cool person and I would have liked him.
I have always loved the name, since I was a young girl. I always wanted to have a son named Emmet/Emmett! Took me until my 3rd son before I could convince my husband of the name ;) And we jacked the spelling, because we felt like it. So our 3rd son is named Emytt. I love it!
It's a very preppy name. Makes me think of old American high schools in Autumn. Also, it makes me think of Doc Brown from Back to the Future and Emmett from Twilight. It makes me wonder if a child would get teased for this name when they're a teen, but for any baby born nowadays, the Twilight reference won't be so bad in say, 15 years time. And not many teenagers would realize Doc's first name is Emmett.
My 3 year old sons name! He is super strong and muscular (already has abs and was walking at 8 months!) and VERY smart! No baby gate could ever keep him in. He will see someone do something and after that he just does it. He has light brown hair with red and blond in it that has a curl at the ends. Large blue eyes, and a big smile with full lips. I love his name Emmett Cole. It sounds to me like the name of a super strong heroic guy kind of like Thor or Superman. That is why I picked that name.
I absolutely adore this name. My 4 year old is named Emmett, he's received quite a few compliments on it. To me, Emmett reflects old world charm and a strong sense of masculinity. I find it very hard to imagine an Emmett who isn't strong, both physically and mentally. I also think it has a rugged, 19th century feel like his big brother's name, August. I have a feeling this name will rise even more in popularity in the next few years, and my son would love to meet another little boy that shares his name!
I love the name Emmett. If I have a son I'd like him to have this name except I would probably spell it like Emmitt.

When I first started hearing this name, I wasn't too fond of it. However, I've heard it so much now that it's grown on me. And now I love it! I always think of a tall, dark, and muscular sort, probably because I always picture Emmett from "Twilight."
