The children's book "Emmett's Pig" about a boy who likes pigs and imagines keeping one in his bedroom, covering the floor with mud for the pig, etc. I think this is a nice, uncommon name without being too weird.
I really like the fact that this is a male name that has been derived from a female name. Usually it's the other way round, so this is a really special name. As for the name itself, it's very nice. Old-fashioned but strong.

It should probably be listed as unisex as it did start off as a female name.
A variation of this name, Emmit, is used by American indie-electronica musician Emmit Fenn, who is most well known for his album "Painting Gray." (Berkeley, California, 1996-)
I ABSOLUTELY LOOOOVE THE LEGO MOVIE, masterpiece in fact and possibly the greatest thing that has been bestowed upon this earth. BUT upon further inspection you'll realize that people named Emmett are scum, all they do is cry about how I took their feeding tube. Oh ¨waaa waaa where is my food please stop stuffing mayo in my feeding tube Syd¨ am I right or am I right? Absolute icky gross human beings with nice fluctuate abs that lead all the way up to their throat, ¨when will the madness end¨ is a quote from an Eminem song and perfectly sums up that disgusting nature of ¨people¨ named Emmett. Now I got one question for the sheep that think the name Emmett is normal. Where are your balls? Listen Emmetts, you have two options, MAN UP OR MOVE TO CALIFORNIA.
Emmett is a very masculine name in my opinion. I absolutely adore it. Love it so much we have chosen this name for our son due in about two weeks!

As for Jay or Kay, Emmett seems to me a way to write the letter M (em, eme, emme).I came across it for the first time in the Twilight saga so a person with this name is tall and muscular in my mind.To me Emmett is perfect for a woodcutter, a ranger, a cowboy or even a soldier.I also know that Emet (אמת) is 'truth' in Hebrew, the famous word to wake Golem. All these links make it more stereotyped and only fictional to my ears.
In 2018, 2 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Emmett who is registered male with the Social Security Administration. It is the 1, 415th most common male first name for living U.S. citizens.

Handsome name... but it’s sad about the Emmett Till association, and that piece of CRAP Carolyn Bryant.
The name Emmett is awesome. Powerful. Truthful. Traditional. Brilliant. Handsome. Intense. Spiritual. Everything you would want in a name and a person. I might think of Emmett Till when I hear the name Emmett, but not the cruelty that was imposed upon him. Emmett Till was probably a really cool person and I would have liked him.
I happen to know a man named Emmett O'Hanlon, and he is a humble, nice, well-built, handsome Irish/American singer (Celtic Thunder + Oprah). I love the name, it rolls off of the tongue very easily, and is one of those kind of safe-haven feeling names. Almost like you can trust an Emmett. There is also another Emmet spelling used with another young man from Celtic Thunder, and the spelling is only different in missing that last 't' at the end.
I have always loved the name, since I was a young girl. I always wanted to have a son named Emmet/Emmett! Took me until my 3rd son before I could convince my husband of the name ;) And we jacked the spelling, because we felt like it. So our 3rd son is named Emytt. I love it!

In Ireland the name Emmett or Emmet became popular from the patriot Robert Emmet. He was a Protestant who died for Irish independence. My understanding the meaning active or lively comes from the German surname. [noted -ed]
It's a very preppy name. Makes me think of old American high schools in Autumn. Also, it makes me think of Doc Brown from Back to the Future and Emmett from Twilight. It makes me wonder if a child would get teased for this name when they're a teen, but for any baby born nowadays, the Twilight reference won't be so bad in say, 15 years time. And not many teenagers would realize Doc's first name is Emmett.
My 3 year old sons name! He is super strong and muscular (already has abs and was walking at 8 months!) and VERY smart! No baby gate could ever keep him in. He will see someone do something and after that he just does it. He has light brown hair with red and blond in it that has a curl at the ends. Large blue eyes, and a big smile with full lips. I love his name Emmett Cole. It sounds to me like the name of a super strong heroic guy kind of like Thor or Superman. That is why I picked that name.
Emmett Louis Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955) was an African-American boy who was murdered in Mississippi at the age of 14 after reportedly flirting with a white woman.
I absolutely adore this name. My 4 year old is named Emmett, he's received quite a few compliments on it. To me, Emmett reflects old world charm and a strong sense of masculinity. I find it very hard to imagine an Emmett who isn't strong, both physically and mentally. I also think it has a rugged, 19th century feel like his big brother's name, August. I have a feeling this name will rise even more in popularity in the next few years, and my son would love to meet another little boy that shares his name!
Emmet is a derogatory word for a tourist in Cornwall.

The variant "Emmet" is used for a character in the English localization of Pokemon Black and White. He and his brother Ingo are the head of the "battle subway". Their names are used thematically as puns. ("Emmet" -> Emmit -> Outgoing ; "Ingo" -> In Go -> Incoming)

Even with the absolutely horrid Twilight-namesake, Emmett is a clean, professional name. I like it.
Emmett Cullen (born Emmett McCarty) is Rosalie's husband, Carlisle and Esme's adopted son in the Twilight Saga and Edward, Alice, and Jasper's adoptive brother. Emmett is described as being tall, burly, extremely muscular, and, to most humans, the most intimidating of his adoptive siblings. He has slightly curly dark hair and dimpled cheeks.Emmett was 20 and living in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in 1935 when he was mauled by a bear. The injuries from the attack were severe and he was found by Rosalie, who had been hunting in the area at the time. Rosalie, who was reminded of her friend's baby having the same curls, dimples, and innocent appearance, carried him over a hundred miles to Appalachia where Carlisle Cullen was, asking him to spare Emmett's life by turning him into a vampire. Emmett joined Carlisle's coven, but initially had trouble adjusting to the family's diet of animal blood. In Twilight, Emmett is at first wary of Bella, but eventually warms up to her. He often teases her for her clumsiness and constant blushing, and votes in favor of her becoming a vampire in New Moon.
When I first started hearing this name, I wasn't too fond of it. However, I've heard it so much now that it's grown on me. And now I love it! I always think of a tall, dark, and muscular sort, probably because I always picture Emmett from "Twilight."
Emmett Till was a black boy from Chicago, Illinois who was brutally beaten and murdered in 1955 for saying something to a white woman in Money, Mississippi.

Emmett was Elle's boyfriend/husband in Legally Blonde. Personally. I love the name and hope to use it.
In the delightfully hilarious BBC comedy "Keeping Up Appearances" (starring Patricia Routledge), Emmett is the name of the neighbor of the main character, Hyacinth Bucket (pronounced like 'Bouquet'), an annoying upper-class wannabe who is a bit of a know-it-all and a prick. Emmett can't stand Hyacinth, but she is totally convinced that he has somewhat of a crush on her. "I do fluster him so", she claims.
