Elli is a really cool name. I think in the English-speaking world it makes more sense to just use Ellie since that's far more common and I bet people would misspell Elli all the time. Yet I also think that Elli has quite a different vibe to Ellie, for some reason. It feels a bit more edgy and dynamic.
While the name Elli is definitely not a standard or traditional Polish name, it has nevertheless been in use in Poland. As of January this year, 101 women in Poland have had this name. 28 others have had it as their middle.
According to Greek Mythology Elli was the granddaughter of Aiolos. The name is also known from the Greek myth of "Frixos and Elli". So according to the myth Frixos and Elli were the children of Athamanda, king of Orchomenos, and Nefelis, ones of the Ocenis. The name due to the myth is also associated with one of the strait known by the Greek mythology as Ellispondos, which took its name in order to honor the fallen princess Elli. [noted -ed]
