Egon is a Germanic name that is peculiar in its own right, but in a good way. It makes a statement. Although anyone would think you named little Egon after Egon Spengler from Ghostbusters, it's still a respectable name.

Egon Olsen is a character in the Norwegian movie series Olsenbanden, he is played by Arve Opsahl.
I love this name. Althought, Egan meaning "little fire" sounds better to me. I don't know, since I live in America Egon is not old fashioned it's just slightly odd. I've never met an Egon or an Egan. I hope people start accepting this name more. It's a very strong name.
A famous bearer of this name is Austrian artist Egon Schiele. Studying in Vienna in the early 20th century, he was mentored by and worked with Gustav Klimt. He was also associated with the Wiener Werkstaette, an arts workshop that included Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, and Carl Moll, among others.
