Ed is the name of the chimpanzee from Matt LeBlanc's movie "Ed" in 1996. Infamous for its 0% Rotten Tomatoes rating and almost 4 Razzie nominations!
The short form "Ed" has a Hebrew Biblical origin, according to Joshua 22:34 (KJV): "And the children of Reuben and the children of Gad called the altar Ed: for it shall be a witness between us that the Lord is God." "Ed" is listed in Strong's Hebrew Concordance as H5707, 'Ed, (עֵד): https://www.blueletterbible.org/lang/Lexicon/Lexicon.cfm?strongs=H5707&t=KJV

Ed is a cool nick-name for a boy. Reminds me of Ed Sheeran (the best singer EVER!) I like the sound of it when is say it. Also T-rex person Ed is an awesome nickname AND ED SHEERAN IS THE COOLEST PERSON EVER!
@TyrannosaurusRegina Ed Sheeran is not an "ugly freak". He's one of the most sweetest, grounded celebs out there. I have no idea why you're being so nasty about him. You don't have to like his music but to say something like that is not nice. Shame on you.Anyway, I love the way Ed sounds! Ed sounds perfect. :D Ed always makes me think of Ed, Edd n Eddy. :D Plus it makes me think of the lovely, talented singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. ^_^

Ed Gein was an American murderer. The character Norman Bates was based on him.
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Ed Sheeran (full name Edward Christopher Sheeran) He is an English singer-songwriter best known for his singles "The A Team," "Lego House," and "Give Me Love." He's a cutie ;)

This name is also used in both Dutch and Limburgish as a short form for names beginning with Ed- (usually Edgar, Eduard and Edwin). Both the Dutch and Limburgish pronunciation is the same as it is in English (ED). [noted -ed]
