The above poster is right--to be pronounced as "ay-lo-EEZ", it needs to be written as "Éloïse". "Éloise", according to the rules of French pronunciation, would be pronounced "el-WAZ".

Eloise is the name of the character in Kay Thompson's books and Hilary Knight's drawings, including "Eloise at the Plaza". She is a very spunky, outgoing, loving, caring child.
