My name is Deana (and it is two syllables not three) Say Dee-nah. In my case, as in most people I have met with the name, it is not derived from Deanna, but from the male name Dean (a la Dean Martin or after a father named Dean). As such it is Scottish in origin and means "Of the valley."

I have the name "Deanna" and my name originates from both of my parents. "De" from my dads last name De Fabis, and Anna from my mothers middle name. That's how I got my name.
This is my name, and I absolutely HATE it! I blame my dad for the spelling of one 'n', resulting in people calling me 'Dee-nah.' My dad's excuse for spelling it that way is because "It's the 'Old-World' way."
