Derived from the archaic Persian word داور (davar) meaning "judge", which ultimately comes from Middle Persian dādwar meaning "judge".In Georgian literature, Davar is the name of a character from the 12th-century epic poem The Knight in the Panther's Skin written by the Georgian poet Shota Rustaveli. She is the sister of king Parsadan of India and aunt to his daughter Nestan-Darejan.
