It’s a good thing this actress Daryl’s last name is Hannah! Women should get to see that their feminine names were surnames too! I think the way they got the surname Hannah, it wasn’t their great great great great great great great great grandfather who made the family name. It was their great great great great great great great great grandmother who designed the family name for her future ancestors. So any boy with a feminine surname like Elizabeth, Isabelle, Alexandra, or Tianna, you shouldn't get teased or bullied, because the kids should realize that you can’t help your surname. There are popular girly surnames like Rose so that should be strange. Both men and women are happy making surnames strong and delicate thank you very much! I’m bound to run into a guy Kevin (first) William (middle) Tianna (last) his greatest grandmother (Tianna) gave him that feminine surname because women historically were old fashioned ancestors to originalize the surname (:!

My name is Daryl and I am female. I have met one other female Daryl when I was selling some books online. She was in her sixties and said that she had never come across another female Daryl until she met me. Personally I don't like the name. If name changing wasn't a bit pretentious, I'd change mine to Darya.
In some Welsh naming books Deryl, spelled with an "e" is used as a feminine name and is pronounced like "Meryl, or Cheryl". I am of Welsh descent and am named in this fashion. I am told it means "Beloved". In this usage it is no more harsh than the name "Bloedwedd" which is also Welsh and feminine.

This is an awesome name! It's cool for both genders in my opinion. :D This name makes me think of Daryl Dixon from The Walking Dead.

It's not a very pleasant sounding name, the spelling is odd, and its pretty dated. But this should be used for boys only, nothing about it is feminine! And in a way, its Daryl Hannah's fault that Madison is considered a female name... A horrible crime indeed. Haha.
Despite being the name of the actress Daryl Hannah, who can hardly be described as androgynous, let alone masculine, the name definitely sounds masculine to me. It's like Darrell rather than feminine names ending in -yl like Sheryl and Meryl. I wouldn't use this for a girl. It sounds quite harsh on females, and a bit harsh on males as well.
