I was pretty surprised seeing the hate this name gets! I don't think it's harsh, it's a lovely, mature, formal name and its diminutives are adorable.

DARYA is a little bit harsh and quite common, I think DERYA is unique, beautiful and has better meaning. It means sea, ocean in Turkish.
