Sorry, but this name makes me imagine a man wearing dirty overalls with a worn out straw hat on his head, has one tooth missing, while chewing on a piece of hay, and sitting on a rocking chair outside of his house that looks like a barn. I'm sorry, I just had to! X(

A bit dated but at least not as dated as the plain, boring Darren which rhymes with Aaron, Baron, Karen etc.

I'm sorry, but no... Just no. Darrell is kind of a hillbilly name in my opinion.

This is my maternal grandfather's first name, so whenever I hear it I automatically think of him. I think it sounds a little old-fashioned, but not so much that I couldn't imagine anyone born nowadays to have it.

Barrel. It just pops to my mind when I see (not hear) this name or Darrel. And then I start to think about "The Nightmare Before Christmas". Not good. No.

This name is great. It sounds classic but not old. It has a good sound too.

I love this name! And it's so much nicer spelt this way than with a y.
