Meaning & History
Derived from Ancient Greek δαΐφρων (daiphron), meaning both "warlike, fiery" and "wise, prudent", the former derived from δάϊς (dais) meaning "battle" and φρήν (phren) meaning "mind, heart, emotions", the latter from ἐδάην (edaen) meaning "to learn, teach, know" and φρήν (phren). This was the name of a son of Aegyptus in Greek mythology.
