As someone with the first name Crawford, I would like to point out that I am named after my grandfather and his father before him. I would not be surprised that in most instances of someone being named Crawford in the modern day, it would be a family name.
This is way too surname-y to be a first name. I'm surprised it's not back in fashion considering the recent trendiness of surnames as first names (no matter how strange they sound).

This has got to be one of the ugliest names I have ever heard.
I hate this name as a first name! Utterly pretentious. And what would the guy be called? Craw? Ford? Ugh! Besides, after seeing Mommie Dearest, I've begun to asociate the name with that monstrous woman Joan Crawford. If the movie really is based on real events, we can conclude that the woman was plain creepy.
Michael Crawford is a very well-known actor and vocalist from the UK, most known in the US playing the title role in "The Phantom of the Opera" musical.
