Cornelis is what the C stands for in M. C. Escher, a Dutch graphic artist famous for impossible constructions and works of architecture and tessellations. Two of his most famous works are "Relativity" and "Hand with Reflecting Sphere".
Cornelis is used in Sweden too. A very famous and popular singer/songwriter in Sweden was named Cornelis Vreeswijk (nickname Kees). He was originally from the Netherlands.
