From the Breton name Konwenn meaning "white dog" or "white warrior", derived from kon, singular (or plural? genitive?) of ki "dog, warrior" (compare Tanguy, Cunobelinus) combined with gwenn "white". This was the name of an early saint, found in the Breton place names Plougonven and Tre-gonoen.
