Colbert

This was the first name of my mother's grandfather, Colbert Ray Lott. Except, he apparently pronounced it "CAHR-bert," not "COHL-bert." Maybe it had to do with them having deep roots in Mississippi, but I find it fascinating.

The name is of French and Germanic origin. Stephen Colbert uses the French pronunciation of the name ("kol-BER") but has stated some of his siblings use the Germanic pronunciation ("kol-BURT").
