Yes, it was used on a soap opera and there was also the perfume, but I think the main reason for the popularity of Ciara (2) (pronounced with three syllables) was the singer. The singer happened before the soap opera Ciara was born. So I think the soap opera was inspired by the singer, not the other way around. Ciara was at the height of its popularity in 2005, a year before the soap opera character was born.Ciara, the singer, had a major hit in June 2004 called "Goodies". It was a #1 hit in the UK and USA and popular all over the world. That year the name moved up 61 places and in the following year (when the song and singer were still popular) it moved up a further 173 places, that is a very strong increase."Goodies" was pretty much a one-hit-wonder (she is still a successful singer but not nearly as well known as back then) and as the singer started to disappear so did the name.In the UK Ciara was more consistently popular but the UK popularity of the name is due to the Irish name Ciara (1) which is pronounced differently, as KEE-ra.

The pronunciation of this name as "Sierra" has been heavily influenced by the character Ciara on the American television soap opera "Days of Our Lives". The character was born on the show in December of 2006. The NBC network actually held a vote among fans of the show to vote for the baby's name -- the choices were Cassidy, Darcy, Rori, Bridget, and Ciara. Ciara won, and the writers of the show at that time obviously did not know how it was pronounced back in Ireland, as the claim was that it was one of the choices because of its Irish origin and the Irish-American ancestry of the character, but on the show it is pronounced like "Sierra".https://soaps.sheknows.com/days-of-our-lives/news/368/introducing-ciara-alice-brady/Though the baby was born on the show December 29, 2006, like many soap opera characters she has been "rapidly aged" and her birthdate is now given as July 16, 1997. In 2020 Ciara was kidnapped on the show by a character named Vincent, who had a British accent, and at one point Vincent commented on how the pronunciation of Ciara's name was dumb and "Midwestern", so the writers now realize that the show's pronuciation is not the true Irish one.
This is my middle name, Ciara. (It’s pronounced see-air-uh) Personally, I like this better than the other way people pronounce it, or Sierra. I like my middle name.
The name Ciara was given to 316 girls born in the US in 2016.

Ciara Princess Harris, known mononymously as Ciara, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actress. Born in Austin, Texas, she traveled around the world during her childhood, eventually moving to Atlanta, Georgia where she joined the girl group Hearsay; however, the group disbanded after having differences. It was at this time Ciara was noticed for her songwriting. In 2002, Ciara met music producer Jazze Pha. With his help, she signed a record deal with LaFace Records.
Pronouncing Ciara as see-air-ah is the equivalent of pronouncing a name like Gabriella as Jah-bree-el-ah. Simply unintelligent, and shows an utter lack of respect for the culture and history behind the name.

Ciara is a pretty name! I like it pronounced 'see - ahr - a'. The 'C' in it looks so much prettier than a 'S'.
