This was my aunt's name. Such a beautiful name! It was pronounced the Italian way, but the problem was that they couldn't pronounce it like that at school in America, so they called her Sha-rina!
Chiarina is the name of a movement in Robert Schumann's piano piece "Carnival". It was named after his wife, composer and pianist Clara (Weick) Schumann.
Properly pronounced through an Italian tongue:Kee-Are-EE-NuhA "Ch" always makes a "K" sound. "Chi" creates "Kee". "A" as pronounced in "Father". The "I" in "Rina" is stressed to "EE". "R"s are always rolled. [noted -ed]
