I honestly didn't have any good associations with this name because the ladies named Cherish I met didn't like me, but that's okay. With that being said, this is a beautiful name with a valuable meaning.
I bumped into a childhood friend of mine and was delighted to learn that she'd given her daughter the first name Cherish... not necessarily because I like it, although it's nice enough, but because we'd lost our mutual best friend when we were all children, and little Cherish's middle name was the name of our departed childhood friend. I thought that was a super sweet way to honor our old friend.
I just want to say my name is Cherish. I have read this post and WOW! I love my name! Never been teased. I get complimented all the time about my name. No one has ever said it was “tacky” or “corny”. And I’m not sure how all people named Cherish fit into some bad category either. When someone yells my name in a crowd, I always know it’s me! When I think of my name I always remember that my mom named me Cherish because of how much she loved and cherished me. Corny or not, I love it!
This means to treasure and care for. So I like the meaning of it. It's no different than people who use the names "rain"..."river"..."chase"... and so on. Plus, I personally like going with a certain name based off the meaning of it, not how it sounds or what people may think of it. To each their own. It's your baby, if you like it then use it! Also, we are in almost 2020 now... a new generation/decade. We need new names anyways and I love the idea of new anything. We can't keep using the same ole plain Jane names for centuries here.

Like most virtue names, I find Cherish to be incredibly tacky and corny. I gladly predict that this name will end up leaving the charts VERY soon. I'm not even going to bother to mention the types of individuals that spring to mind when it comes to this name. The associations with this name are mutual with just about anyone.
This is way nicer than most word names. It's not really a favorite of mine, but it actually sounds like a name, not a word.

I named my first daughter Cherish because I said when I was a young girl I would name my daughter Cherish because I would always love her and treasure the gift given to me. I also wanted to place the destiny of the meaning on her as a part of her life purpose to always remember to love mankind and treasure each day given to her. Just my reason and agree or don't. I love my child and she loves life.
One day I was looking through my brother's graduation program and saw that one of the graduates had this as a first name, with the middle name of "Money." Weird, but if the weirdness is hidden away as a middle name, there's no real harm done.Anyway, this is a pretty name and reminds me of the song "Cherish" by Kool and the Gang.
I adore this name. It is absolutely beautiful. I think It has a deep strength and passion within it. It means "to treasure" or " hold dearly to". It's both sweet and strong... I love it.
I swear on my face, I once heard a redneck mom yell at her kid in the grocery store, "Git back over here, Cherish Rae!" Pretty much killed any appeal this name might ever have held for me.
This name isn't bad, even though some do say the child with this name would be teased. But look on the bright side, it beats giving your child a bland name, such as Mary, Lisa, or Amy, by a long shot!

For crying out loud, this is a VERB! This is like naming your kid "fulfill" or "savor", or even "run", dammit! Why would you curse your child with this name. Oh, I foresee so much teasing.

Beautiful! It would sound great as a middle name as well.
