My name is Channing (I’m a girl) … I hate my name it’s ugly to me & not feminine at all. I wish i had a prettier girly name ;( I’m 16 and I plan on changing my name when I’m older. I’m also very insecure about my name. I hate that my mother named me this.

My mom's name is Channing! A lot of people in these comments say it is horrible, but I think that all the people who say that are just rude! That name is really special. And whoever says that it is bad are very wrong. The name is unique.
So my second grandson is due in July... lots of names were tossed around but they settled on Channing Douglas. I must say Channing wasn't sitting well with me but now it's grown and I'm thinking up nicknames. My oldest grandson is Jayden Christopher... Middle name is my son's name... and Jayden is very popular! There's 3 on his baseball team! So MY boys are Christopher Michael and Andrew David... very strong, good names... and my grandson's are Jayden and Channing.
I have a friend named Channing. He is distantly related to President Zachary Taylor and by marriage to Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee. I have encountered men with this name always in connection to the Old South of the United States east of the Rio Grande River and south of the Missouri and Ohio Rivers and the Mason Dixon Line. Seems to be decidedly Southern. It's an aristocratic and elegant name with a dignity that gives off a high-brow arrogance. It's a name you would want to use carefully. It needs to be bestowed on someone with a strong character tempered by humility. Most people call my friend Chandler. He goes by Chan. You'd want to follow it with a middle name like James or Robert as in Channing James Travis. My friend is of Scotch-Irish and English descent and is originally from the Old South. I think it would be a great name for a cowboy!
This name is fine but it does make me think of Chantix, a prescription medication to help smokers quit. Personally, I would only use this name as a middle name.

Hey guys, my name is Channing! (I'm a girl) I've been told multiple times that my name is very unique and suits me well. I have also met a few guy Channing's.
Actually, I've changed my mind about the name Channing. I don't think it's ugly or weird. It sounds very nice. Plus it's unique. Haha, seriously, you never expect names that you originally dislike to grow on you! Xo :)

170 poor little girls were given the name 'Channing' in 2012 in the US. Yes, girls. It's so unfeminine it's not even funny.
I will never, ever understand how someone could actually decide to name their child this. "Hey Channing, what's up?" It just doesn't sound right. Honestly, this doesn't even sound like a name. It sounds like a surname (not the kind that should be made into a first name) or a verb. Ugh. I just don't see how you can call someone Channing. "Hey, there's Channing," "hi, my name is Channing" it's just so weird, haha. And also if you name your son this everyone will think its after that annoying guy Channing Tatum :/

Channing sounds like a verb due to the -ing ending, and it also makes me think of a spoiled yuppie child. It's not a good name.
