Irish names are pronounced differently because they are from a different language with different phonetics. They aren't names from the English language. Although some names have been anglicised over time due to foreign invasion and oppression.

I love Irish names, but I don't get them. How is this name pronounced "CAY-vun"?
I love Irish names and this is pretty in theory but sounds a bit too much like "cave in".

I don't understand why everyone talks about kids being teased about certain names. I mean, a name like 'Apple', sure, but spell this name simpler (like Kayvin) and it could work! I personally like the sound as it is simple and different, yet not too strange.
