Derived from the Latin adjective castrensis meaning "of the camp, in the camp", which is ultimately derived from the Latin noun castra meaning "(military) camp, encampment".This was the name of a 5th-century Catholic bishop and saint from North Africa, who was exiled to Campania in southern Italy by the Vandals.
