I've never met anyone named Cassandra, but I can imagine it on a nice person.
Beautiful, it sounds like the name of a queen.
It's a very nice name, but the mythological character isn't someone I would want to reference at all. Unfortunate, since it's a very pretty and classic name.
I really like the name. If I have a daughter someday I might use it as her name. I like the nickname Cassie. I think if I had to rate it I would give it a 9/10.
My wife and I picked this name for our daughter in 2016. I've loved this name for years, and I was so glad to get a chance to use it. It's relatively rare where we live, which is an added bonus.
I've heard many people say that they prefer Cassiopeia as a full name for Cassie, but I personally prefer Cassandra. And although, yes, it does contain „ἀνήρ”, I think that the mythological history gifts Cassandra a rather feminist aspect.
This is a very pretty name. I especially love the nickname “Cassie”. The “d” sound in the name also gives it another unique sound that some names don’t have. I can understand why it was kind of popular in the past.
I like this name. This name sounds like a beautiful, wise and mature woman. I like it.
It's so pretty. Cassandra is a beautiful name. It's so nice and beautiful. I like nicknames Cassie and Sandy ❤❤.
Such a beautiful name. It sounds so lovely. A mixture of spunk, elegance and grace. I also like the Greek mythology behind it. I have chosen it as my daughter's name. Her name is that of a Trojan princess and mine a Roman empress. May it never become too popular or overused.
Candy would be a cute nickname.
Love the nickname Cass or Cassie!
Really like it, it's very elegant and mature; not super popular but not rare either, and Cassie is a cute nickname!
Ugh, so beautiful! Long, mature, princessy, cute, formal, sweet, well-aged, name! SO MANY POSSIBLE NICKNAMES! Love it! Cassie and Sandy are just wonderful nicknames!
I SO love it!
It sounds like a name a princess would have- long, mature, and princessy! I would have this name if I could!
I would too, MythicalCreature! I love it! Mature, long, beautiful, princessy, amazing, ages well, smart...
So elegant! This name belongs to a princess (its namesake).
Very dated!
Very pretty, and not dated at all. It's way better than Journee, you have to admit.
I graduated with a few Cassandras in 2003. It does seem dated now.
Dated! Not a fan!
At first, I wasn’t a huge fan of the name. I didn’t like that people would mess up the spelling and that there were no other Cassandras in my class. As I’ve been getting older, I seem to love my name more and more. It’s long but at the same time so simple and unique. Cassandra is quite a beautiful name, and it took me some time to realize it but I adore it. Being a Cassandra is a challenge itself. You gotta live up to this gorgeous name! Anyways, I love my name. It’s me, Cassandra (but I usually go by Cassie Marie)
I love this name so much! I especially like the nickname Cassie! I'd consider it for a future child!
Lovely.
The meaning of Cassandra, "to excel, to shine" is awesome! I also like how this name can be translated from English to German. :)
I love the nickname Cass for this :)
This is a name I dislike because it looks bad, it sounds bad, it is like I have been given this only in 1910. I just hate this name.
I love this name so much. This name is very appealing to me.
Boring, ugly, and a bit dated.
Very sweet name.
It's really pretty and I like the nickname Cassie.
My name is Cassandra Taylor and my mother named me after the Greek princess. I know that no one will believe me but when I dream I get a glimpse of what will happen in the future, like what weather it will be tomorrow, in a month, or a year. It usually happens but I can't make it happen. And only witness not change and some things I see are not always great but I guess I gotta live with it. May Princess Kassandra rest in peace.
This is my name, it it is special to me because my grandma's name is Sandra Dee and mine is Cassandra Lee. So I am named after my grandma.
I named myself Cassie, it's from my favorite movie- the main actress is called Cassie, so I used it for myself when I was 13, then I found out Cassie is the nickname of Cassandra, and I really love this name, it felt like this is who I am.
Cassandra is my name. I use Cassandra professionally, and Cass informally with my friends and family. I think it it a pretty name, but is quite long. It pairs well with short middle names, mine is Lee.
I think Cassandra is a very impressive, powerful name. I wouldn't expect a Cassandra to be shy and retiring. As a rather timid, introverted person myself, I'm glad I'm not a Cassandra, because I could never live up to it! I also like how many nicknames could be made from Cassandra. I only know two people named Cassandra. One is a woman in her 60s (goes by Sandra) and the other is her granddaughter in her teens (goes by Cassie). They live up to the fantastic beauty of the name.
While it has unfortunate connotations, Cassandra is a lovely, albeit slightly unusual name. It would make any little girl stand out in a classroom. Possible nicknames include Cas, Cassie, Sandra, Sandy, and Andy.
Cassandra sounds like the name of a strong, determined woman. I love it! The meaning is great as well!
I adore this name. I always imagine a Cassandra being a honey blonde with big 60s style hair and chocolate brown eyes walking in a bikini on a hot summer's day, walking along a sandy beach in Miami or somewhere else in America with hot weather and palm trees... perhaps California? Yes, I picture the name Cassandra on an all American beauty- great name. And Cassy and Sandy are great nicknames too.
Always loved it as it is my middle name. Mom penned her special touch to it in the form of Casandria. I was named after a beautiful girlfriend of my uncle at the time my mom was pregnant with me. Loved my childhood nickname of Sandy. Hated the others kids in grade school calling me ‘cassava’ though.
Didn’t stumble upon its meaning until later on in life and I truly believe it because I’ve become a helper of men in my own regard... as a certified emergency room nurse. And the historical association of being a prophetess, I’ve experienced that aspect many times for myself.. sometimes heeded, other times not so much. All in all, It’s a great name, regal and alluring, not commonly heard... takes a while to learn to spell as a kid. Love it love love it.
I love the name Cassandra! If I ever have a daughter, I will name her Cassandra Mae. I like all of the nicknames for Cassandra (Cassie, Casey, Cass, Sandy, Sandra), although I wouldn't really enjoy calling my daughter "Sandra". This name is so beautiful!
I am apparently in the minority on the name Cassandra. I've always disliked it very much and started asking people to call me Sandra in high school. It very quickly turned into Sandy and I've been known as Sandy for about 28 years. What makes things even worse is my middle name is Christine. They are both very long names. Plus, the story of my grandma being the one to name me and my mother disagreeing but going along with it doesn't set well with me either.
I used to hate being called Cassandra. My mom named me after the Greek Prophetess. I usually go by Casey. A lot of people call me Cassie or Cass. It doesn't really bother me. I have started to actually like the name. However I have found that I get to say "I told you so", "I warned you", and "I wish you would have listened" far too many times for liking. I have this curse and it is real. There is no doubt about it. Being smart just doesn't cut it when people refuse to listen to you when you are always right...
Cassandra is nice but I prefer the spelling Kassandra. It just seems more rare. The nickname Sandra I don't like, but Cassie and Casey are cute names.
I like it, I just don't like the nicknames Cassie and Sandra for it.
I've been called Sandra, but that's because some people think that my name is too long. I don't really like "Sandra" as a shortening though, I prefer Cassie, it's cuter. But I love my name, the history and everything about it, and also the other persons that I know who are Cassandras, they are quite lovable.
I have always loved my name. However, I often find that people don't hear the "Ca" and will think I said Sandra.
My name is Cassandra. I love my name so much. At first I thought my name was too long, took up too much energy to remember. However, I have grown to love my name. I love the meaning servant of mankind, and light, and it is really awesome to know that Cassandra was a prophetess in Greek mythology, a princess. I also realize that the bearers of this name are generally considered to be very beautiful inside out, We Cassandras tend to be a friend to whoever needs one. Cassandra's are crazy fun, you'll enjoy a friendship with her, totally extraordinary. Not being biased, these were opinions of others before I shared these opinions.
My name is Cassandra Jade but everyone always referred to me as Cassie, Cass or CJ until I entered the workforce. It took a while to get used to 'Cassandra' but I love it now. People often comment on my name and believe it suits me because of my medusa curly like hair :)
I do not like my name. I find it too long. It was my mother who had chosen because my father wanted to call me Heidi. I learned many things on this site.
Really exciting to see one of the old comments where someone wanted to name their child the same as me haha. I love my name. Cassandra is very formal and Cassie fits me very well as a nickname. Coworkers and family have started calling me Cass now that I'm in my 20's. It's a great name to grow up with since it has different levels of formality, like Michael, Mikey, Mike.
My niece is called this. As it is always shortened to Cassie it is easy to forget what a beautiful name CASSANDRA really is.
Very nice and decent name but I prefer the spelling of Casandra (one S) because it doesn't have Ass like cASSandra does.
There's something super sophisticated about this name. I love it!
This has always been one of my favorite names since I was a child. It was especially exciting when there was a character in one of my favorite games (Soul Caliber, mentioned above), who had the name. She instantly became my favorite character. This name will always have a special place in my heart.
I recently began to really love this name, I especially like the nickname 'Cas'.
I like this name, but the meaning is a bit bad and sexist.
I've known one person with this name, and she pronounced it cas-on-dra, which I don't really like. I do like pronunciation ca-sand-ra though, it's been growing on me :)
I never liked this name, especially because it has the word "a**" in it... think about when your daughter will learn now to spell her name, "C-A-S-S, etc...". A** :(
My dad wanted to call me this when I was born, but mum wouldn't let him. I am about to change my horrible first name (the one they chose was much worse, funnily enough), and am thinking of using this one. I like the shortening of Cass.
So-so name. It sounds pretty, but doesn't look to good on paper. I prefer the spelling Casandra. My friend's little sister has this name and we call her Dra (pronounced Druh) xD.
This is my name, too, though spelled Cassandre "Casse" and I'm actually surprised at how many people with this name like it. As a kid, I was picked on for this name... Sassy, Lassie, Gassy, etc., not to mention Casey, Cassidy, Chastity, and Cass (which I hated, because it was the name of a guy on a soap opera my grandmother watched). As an adult I'm more okay with it, but still don't care for it. Plus people on the phone always hear Cathy. Growing up my mother said it meant 'defender of man', like Alexandra does and I thought that was a really stupid meaning compared to my brother's which meant "gift of God".
I was searching this name because it is my name and read that Cassandra means she who breathes flames of love. I love this name (of course , because it is mine) but also because it is classic, feminine, and elegant.
I think, like Alexandra, it sounds very grand without being pretentious. I love it!
I personally love the name, while it is too common for me to use, and I hate the nicknames.
I like it pronounced either way. I've known two Cassandras. (One went by "Sabi" the other "Kassy") Kassy was an annoying, bullying child; the other, "Sabi" was a Dungeon Master and super-geek. I guess it kind of goes to show how this name can fit all personality types.
Cassandra has always been one of my favourite names. It's breathtakingly beautiful, passionate and regal. And I love Cassandra in the myth. However, I don't like any of the "established" nicknames - Cassie, Sandy and especially not Sandra. If I was to use this name, I would give her the nickname Cassa.
I like this name, but it seems to be overused in soap operas, not to mention they always go by Cassie. I had a Cassandra in some of my early writings, but she went by Sandy. I think Sandy sounds better than Cassie as a nickname.
I like this name, but everyone shortens it to Cassie or Cass, and I don't like that nickname.
This is a really pretty name. It is unique, and soft. I also think that the name Cassie is a good nickname, as well as Sandy or Sandra. It is also a name that someone could grow up with. (:
I LOVE IT! It makes me think of the colour blue for some reason. I guess I'm just strange like that :DDAny girl would be so lucky to have such a beautiful name!
I absolutely love this name. My sister-in-law has this name and I love it. I hate it when people call her (CASUNDRA). I like the usual saying of Cassandra. She spells her name like the usual spelling.
I think this is a very sophisticated name. Mine is spelled Kasandra and pronounced (Ka-Sawn-DrA) and everyone around me calls me Kassie (not pronounced KA-See, but simply Ka-see vowel sounding a). I hate when people call me Kasey and all the other mispellings for this name.
Cassandra is one of my favorite names. Good nicknames are Cassie or Sandy.
Yeah I like the name Cassandra, but I never really use it! I have the name but I'm always called Cassie and my friends just call me Cass. But it's one of those names which people say completely when they are really angry with you!
I love this name. It's classic yet very contemporary. Jane Austen's sister's name was Cassandra as well.Plus, if you were to name your kid Cassandra, she would be able to go by Sandra, Cassie, Cass, or Sandy.
I love the name Cassandra. My second girl would be named Cassandra May. I love the meaning shining upon man.
This name works for a middle name with, like, EVERYTHING. I think it's because the stress is on the second syllable.
I think this name is pretty. I also like the nickname Cassie.
I think this name is very pretty.
My best friend's name is Cassandra and she hates every nickname and spelling of the nickname. But she choose "Casey" as the nickname she liked best.
It is so funny that people think this name is too long. No one ever says that about Elizabeth or Catherine, which both have nine letters like Cassandra. I think Cassandra is a wonderful name. It's feminine without being cutesy or frilly.
She has always loved this name, particularly its history.
When I was younger, I absolutely hated this name, my name. I thought that it was strange and just ugly. Now that I am older, I have really grown to love this name.
I like my name, but the variation of spelling really makes mine unique. Casandra. ONE s. I do like it. Casandra Marie at first was long and I was made fun of in elementary for it, but it really sets me apart from all my friends named Whitney and Matthew because there are so many! (I do like those names too!)
My full name is Cassandra Linnette and everyone I talk to tells me my name is beautiful and I think so too. If it wasn't my name already I would name my daughter that. I really believe the thing about the curse put on Cassandra in Greek Mythology because when I know something is going to happen, no one believes me, and when it really does happen, they still think it was just a coincidence. Oh yea and it's a name no one ever teased me for. That's always a good thing to look for when picking a name for a child.
This is my absolute favorite girls' name! If I ever have a daughter her name will be Cassandra Mary. It is so beautiful and feminine, and it isn't very popular. It has a nice meaning and a history in mythology. So what's not to like about this name?
I absolutely love this name for some odd reason, even though it is overused. What surprises me however, is that this name is not somehow related to less popular Cassidy. Odd, isn't it.
I love the name Cassandra. I used to hate it because of the length - but now I just think it's gorgeous. Of course I'm partial because it is my name.
My best friend's name is Cassandra and I quite like the name even though it took me forever to learn how to spell it but that's just me. The name Cassandra has quite a meaning with it and very smart people should be named Cassandra just like my friend. She's very very smart.
I have always loved the name Cassandra. My parents always told me it meant God's helper and Helper of mankind. I have also heard that it means truthful. I am often told that I have a beautiful name and I agree!
I love the name Cassandra because it's my name. But I am not happy that some people think the name is for witches because it is NOT!
Cassandra is a beautiful name. I love the nickname Cassie. If my first had been a girl the name would have been Cassandra Lynne.
I love my name, I used to hate being called Cassandra but I love the uniqueness of it now. My full name is Cassandra Alicia and I like the idea of the Greek princess/prophetess myth.
I figured my name was just an excuse to get me to write more because of how long it is. But I think it's beautiful because of its history.
