Lovely! I wouldn’t worry about the movie. It’s refreshing to crazy modern names (Kinsley, Braxton, Paisley, Maverick) and classic names (James, Elizabeth, William, Emma). I really like this name.
Casper is a lovely name, and deserves more recognition. Little kids these days don't really watch Casper the Friendly Ghost anymore, so it will be fine.
I think the Casper movie is old enough to make this name usable again. From 2023 and after, that age group of kids won’t know about the ghost movies so if you love it, use it. It’s different than Grayson, Finn, Oakley etc, and it’s just a nice refreshing name to hear. Jasper is another good option just in case. Honestly, everyone who knows or watched the movies are all adults and parents at the moment so don’t worry about it.

I absolutely LOVE the name Casper. I love the association of The friendly Ghost. Because I am a Halloween lover. He's not a dead kid guys, he's just a character from a movie! Before the movie Casper was a normal boy name. I love the nickname Cas.
Casper Ten Boom was a Dutch Christian who helped many Jews escape the Nazis during World War II. The Ten Boom's family story is chronicled in "The Hiding Place," written by Corrie Ten Boom.
I named my son Casper, he's nine months now, before he was born I got a lot of negative feedback on my name choice, especially from family. As soon as he was born though, he is 100% a Casper. Also, just last night we met another Casper at our small town grocer!
The name Casper is very unique and beautiful for a girl or boy in my opinion. Something wonderful about the name is that it will be pronounced correctly by any substitute teachers, teachers, doctors, etc. Another great thing about this name is it is very unique, but not in a stand-out way. If a Casper is going in for an interview, they will most likely not be judged by their name, but an Abcde (nothing against this name, it is very pretty) may be judged. As far as the Casper the Friendly Ghost goes, this is interesting. The rapper Drake did not turn anyone away from the name, so why Casper? (Drake is #561) (Casper is #1,165). Overall, I would use this as an advantage. How cool is this unique name?!
Usage: English, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Popular CulturePronounced: KAS-pər (English, Dutch), KAS-peh (Swedish), KAS-bu (Danish)Meaning: Variant form of Jasper used in several languages. In Popular Culture, it is the name of a friendly ghost from an American series of cartoons and comic books (beginning 1945).
I generally love names beginning with a 'ck' sound and Casper is no exception. I like Casper and Cas equally and I would definitely use it for a son. I think Casper and Cornelius are good names for twins. Also, Casper the friendly ghost is not a problem for me. I associate it more with the Three Wise Men (Magi), like thesnowwhiterose said earlier.

The name Casper was given to 123 boys in the US in 2017!
Not sure why everyone hates the connection to the friendly ghost, I think it's rather cute. It's a sweet, calm, and sleepy-sounding name. You can also use the nickname 'Cas' which is a super cute little nickname. I love this name, it's perfect for a baby, a teen, and an adult. You can't go wrong with Casper!
I love the name Casper! It it very underused in my opinion. Yes, lots of people think of Casper the Friendly Ghost BUT this name is classy & handsome regardless! :-)

Caspar is also used in America. Definitely due to the association with the child's tv show. But it's a good name.
I SO wish this name was more common. It needs to rid itself of the pale and ghostly connotation from that outdated cartoon. Casper is a really cool name, plus if a guy wanted to, he could go by Cass. The names Cassidy and Cassandra are popular for girls, so I really hope this one day makes a comeback. It was an uncommon name during the late 1800s, but today is pretty much nonexistent.
Casper is the stage name of a German rapper who is gaining popularity at the moment. I think it's a beautiful name, quite old and regal sounding. Mystical!
I don't think that many children these days would even be familiar with 'Casper the Friendly Ghost.' There's no reason for this name to be considered unusable. It's short and fun.
It's not the worst name out there, but I must say that the first thing that comes to mind is Casper the Friendly Ghost, along with the tune that has stuck in my mind, even though I haven't watched the program since 1991 or 1992. People with this name would probably have the tune stuck in my head all day.
Casper or Kasper in Germany is a jack-in-the box, a toy for kids. What I want to know, being that my name is Casper, where did the ghost come from? How did they hook the two together?
