My name is Carolina I'm from Argentina from Italian parents my hubby is American he got used to the caroLEEnah pronunciation and now even corrects people for me :)
My nickname is Caro but hubby renicknamed me Kehro πŸ˜‚ I love my name because Carolina is super feminine like Carolina Herrera and Caro/Kehro nickname is tomboyeesh i love it ❀️.
I live in South Carolina, and personally, I like the Spanish pronunciation of car-o-Lee-nuh. And no, we are not all racist here.
I’ve never been a fan of this name. It’s fine, though I much prefer Caroline. Less complicated and just sounds nicer than Carolina IMO.
I like how this is pronounced in Spanish: Car - Oh - Lee - Na. I used to have an acquaintance from Columbia with this name and she was so glamorous.
When I was younger I wished this was my name.
I think Carolina is so gorgeous because it's so nice and beautiful. I love it. ❀❀.
Carolina sounds beautiful, but reminds me of North or South Carolina.
I normally don't like the trend of naming children after a state, but Carolina is not one of them, alongside Dakota. It is not bad at all; I think Carolina sounds beautiful and pretty.
Also quite pretty, like Caroline. The only thing is that I immediately think of North Carolina and South Carolina.
I like this and Caroline as well, but the only thing that bothers me about this name is the association with the states, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
My middle name, period.
I love it, but of course I do, it’s part of my name.
I don’t think I’d use this as a name, however, there’s something sweet about it!
Lovely.
Sounds very country to me.
I only like it with the care-uh-lee-na pronunciation.
I can't get over the fact that this is the name of two of the most racist states in America. Other than that, this name is tolerable.
Love, love, love this name.
Imagine a little girl named Carolina with blonde hair and blue eyes.
I like Carolina, but only pronounced with ee, like in Scandinavian languages, not ie. I really dislike it with ie. I think it doesn't need to be shortened. It's one of those names that really don't need any nicknames despite its length. I guess all the nicknames take a lot of charm from it. I think it is a very feminine name, subtle, but dynamic. Though I prefer Caroline slightly more, also with ee or i, not ie.
I much prefer this name with the pronunciation of "Lee-nuh" at the end. Much more soft and beautiful that way (:
I love this sweet, southern name. I like other southern names like this: Virginia, Tallulah, Georgia, Delta.
I love this name because of the James Taylor song. The association with the states, rather than ruining it, gives it a touch of Southern charm that I quite like.
I like the Italian/Spanish pronunciation car-o-lee-nah, very pretty. This, along with Georgia and Virginia are in my opinion the only acceptable "state" names.
Seriously!? This must be a west coast name. No one on the east coast is going to name their kid after the Carolinas. Bit overkill. It's like naming your daughter after a sporting team (Go Carolina Tarheels! Or Go Carolina Panthers!). Or naming your kid after the government- which reminds me, I still need to pay my taxes. I live in the state of North Carolina, you see.As for South Carolina- it's a poor state, a conventional place, and near last in education.
Carolina = Carry-Ol'-LinaNot very enticing.
I like the name, but it is SO overused where I live. I know EIGHT Carolinas, but 2 of them use it as a middle name. And yet I feel like I'm forgetting somebody...
This is a very sexy name. It may not have a lot of many carriers of this name, but it just sounds hot. And it's only hot when it's pronounced Carol-Eena, not Carol-I-Na.
Carolina is one of those elegant, classy and sophisticated names you can't go wrong with. I love it, when pronounced the Spanish way - kah-ro-LEE-nah (I find the English pronunciation unappealing, sorry). It's not overly common, but still practical, in terms of spelling and pronunciation. Carolina has to be one of my favourite names. However, I wouldn't like people to shorten it to Carol. Carol has always struck me as being wet-blankety, like an aunt you don't like visiting. I might push for Lina, but it takes away the beauty of Carolina. I really don't understand some people's need to shorten already beautiful names.
Carolina is a hot name as someone said. I love this name, exotic, refreshing. The best pronunciation is Kahr-o-LEE-nuh. Beautiful, I'm writing it down to remember it.
I don't know why, but this is one of my favorite names ever. But I only like it pronounced kahr-o-LEE-nah. If it's pronounced kahr-o-LIEN-a, it just makes me think of the states North and South Carolina. And I would never my my kid after a state.
I love my name. Carolina. My dad named me after his mother who died exactly 1 year before my birth. Not only does it have emotional meaning but every time a guy asks me what my name is they always have the same reaction."WOW. That's a hot name!"
Carolina is absolutely divine. If I ever move to another state, I am certain I will name a daughter of mine Carolina.
I just recently heard about this name and fell in love with it immediately. It is so beautiful and elegant. Carrie or Lina could be used as nicknames.
I was talking about names I like with my family and my brother said he liked Carolina. I think it is so nice and beautiful, and a perfect name for his daughter.
This is a very beautiful and exotic name.
I love it because of James Taylor's song "Going to Carolina In my Mind."
