Carmosina is the name of the wicked stepmother in Giambattista Basile's version of Cinderella, La gatta Cenerentola. Carmosina tricks the protagonist Zezolla into killing her first stepmother so she can marry her father. After the wedding, she reveals that she has six daughters of her own, and they begin to mistreat Zezolla.
