Briseida Acosta is a Mexican taekwondo athlete. She won the silver medal at the 2013 World Taekwondo Championships on the women's heavyweights and the bronze medal at the 2019 World Taekwondo Championships on the same weight category.
I had a friend in primary school with this name. She was of Mexican descent - this name seems to be used mainly by Latin Americans. Anyway, I always thought her name was so cool, though she didn't seem to like it. (Then again, what kid honestly does at that age?)

Briseida is used quite a bit in Latin America, where a number of spelling variants are present (such as Brizeida and Brizeyda). Doesn't see much usage in Spain, though. Brisa (which coincides with the Spanish word for breeze) is a common short form, although now it's often used as an independent name.
