Related to the Celtic root brixs meaning "high, hill". According to Galician mythology, Brigo was the first person who settled in Galicia, and he was grandson of Noah and father of Artai. This character is often identified with Breogán, from the Irish legendarium 'Lebor Gabála Érenn'.
