This is my name, I was named after my great-great-grandmother who came over from Ireland. I pronounce it bridge-id and I'm told she did too. When she got to America she had to change her name to Mary Louise because very few Irish were being employed and Brighid is a highly Irish name. I feel very lucky that I get to display my culture in a way that was taken from her and I'm very proud of the name.

In Irish mythology this was the name of the goddess of fire, poetry and wisdom, the daughter of the god Dagda.
