A fictional character created by J.R.R. Tolkien. After his younger nephew, Frór, and brother were slain, Borin departed from the Ered Mithrin with his younger nephew, Thrór, to the Lonely Mountain in eastern Middle-earth, and lived there until his death. Thrór would someday be King of the Lonely Mountain, until the dragon Smaug assaulted it.
