I like it only as a nickname for Robert and Roberta maybe Robin. It’s pretty silly to put this on the birth certificate.

Please take my advice- don’t name your kid Bobby! Or Call him that if his name is Robert like mine! Growing up I constantly got teased for “Bob the Builder” or being a hill billy. It makes you sound like an old man or as my mother in law would say “viaheto”.
Why are some of you saying that Bobby is a weird name for a boy and a girl. Of course I agree that girls shouldn't use this name, but for a boy, that is so cute. I happen to love the name Bobby. You guys are so ridiculous. Bobby is not a weird name for a boy. It sounds great.

I love this name for some reason, vintage sound to it. I especially love it for a nickname for Barbara. But mostly for a guy, Robert.
I think this is a nice nickname, but NEVER for a boy or a girl. It's just too awkward to say 'Hello, my name is Bobby' Imagine saying that, cute with a British accent sometimes, but mostly it's just plain weird. Sorry to offend any 'Bobby's'.
Bobby is a nice, cute name for either gender, in my opinion. I don't see what there is too moan about from this name. It's simple, though at least it has an actual meaning.

I prefer Robbie, but Bobby is a cute nickname for Robert. I wouldn't recommend putting "Bobby" on a birth certificate, though.
Bobby is a cute nickname for Robert, (though I definitely prefer Robby) but it should never be used as a full name! I was surprised to see this was in the top 1000 for the US, and even the top 100 in England, where for some reason that is completely beyond me they seem to prefer to give their children nicknames rather than full names.

The name Bobby is okay if you say it with a British accent but with an American accent I always mistake them for saying Barbie!
