I'm Chinese and to be honest this is truly a great Chinese character for names as well as "彻",which means "thorough". It shows a great sense of anima.I have an art teacher who is named after 波. She is as gentle and beautiful as the name :)
The name Bo in Chinese has several meanings. Written in the the script 伯, Bo means "eldest brother", and is sometimes used as a given name for a first-born son. Written as 宝, Bo means "precious". Bo is a name that when translated to the English language, works just as well as it does in Chinese, and just as flattering for a boy or girl. It holds a lot of character in its simplicity that makes it a great choice as a first or middle name.
In 2018, 3 is the most common age for an American (U.S.) Bo who is registered male with the Social Security Administration. It is the 2520th most common male first name for living U.S. citizens.

Prince Bo is a hamster from Hamtaro. He is the prince of Rainbowland. He appears in the Game Boy Advance game Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue, where the Ham-Hams must cooperate to help Bo get back to Rainbowland.
Ugh! As a nickname, maybe. But as a real name? Not a chance! It brings Little Bo Peep to mind. I can't imagine being, I don't know, a business person called Bo. It just doesn't work.

Several other sources say the meaning of Bo for a girl is "precious". I love this name for a girl, it is simple and unpretentious, yet makes a statement.
