I only like this name for pets, I think it's too much for a human.
I think this name is so pretty and idk why. It just makes me think of lush flowers. This might be controversial, but I think this would be nice as a middle name for a boy. Boys should get pretty things too once in a while.
When I was a kid, the show Fetch! With Ruff Ruffman had a cat character named Blossom. Her full name was Princess Blossom Pepperdoodle Von Yum Yum.
This is my cat's name! And I honestly love the associations of Sakura blossoms! They are so pretty! Plus it's such a nice and feminine sounding name!
Blossom Seeley (1886 — 1974) was an American singer, dancer, and actress.
Blossom is a cute first or middle name! Besides, people use human names to name their pets too. My neighbor’s dog is named Oliver so I can definitely see Blossom rising on the girl's chart.
My favs:
Daphne Blossom
Thalia Blossom
Alana Blossom
Novalee Blossom.
I hate this name it is too girly.
What's wrong with a name sounding feminine? Never heard anyone complain that a name is too boyish.
I think this name is adorable.
My dog's name is Blossom, my family and I love it, it suits her well, when we got Blossom we were obsessed with "the power puff girls" I remember I wanted to name her Charlotte, but we settled on Blossom, honestly I can't imagine her being named anything else but Blossom. I love the name.
Blossom Puanani Alama-Tom is a Living Treasure of Hawaiʻi and the last surviving judge of the first Merrie Monarch Festival. Alama-Tom is also an entertainer, a kumu hula, a hula judge, and a musician. Since 1940, Alama-Tom has performed at the City and County of Honolulu Department of Parks and Recreation’s Nā Hula Festival.
My middle name is Blossom and it's better for a first name!
Pretty. I like the sound and the spelling.
The meaning is nice but it doesn't sound very pretty. The way it looks slightly reminds me of the word "bottom".The TV show comes to mind and the lead actress (who played Blossom) went kind of nuts so that isn't a good association either.
Feels like a strong name. Really rare, not used much. And why not? I think Blossom is a beautiful name, looks also good. I like it!
Gorgeous, magnificent and very feminine name. Reminds me of a beautiful summer day!
Only for a middle name...
Light and floaty. Possibly a bit flimsy.
Pretty and cute. Reminds me of the powerpuff girls.
Beautiful!
Sweet, girly-name. It is beautiful and pretty but it just looks better as a middle name- sorry!
Too cutesy and sickly sweet for a first name, but awesome for a middle name.
Blossom from the Powerpuff Girls (used to be one of my favorite shows along with Dexter's Laboratory, Codename: Kids Next Door, Johnny Bravo, Scooby Doo, and more...) I think this is a dumb name for a child honestly.
Blossom is quite a pretty name, but using it as a middle name would be a better choice. It's too associated with The Powerpuff Girls, and that garbage reboot makes the association even worse. So yeah, not for a first name.
Pretty ♥️ But I prefer it as a middle name (:
When I hear this name all I could think of is those spoiled girls on Gacha Life videos.
I think Blossom is a beautiful name for a lovely girl to have, especially that character from The Powerpuff Girls. Though, I prefer it for a flowery girl.
The name Blossom was given to 38 girls in the US in 2017.
Blossom, as much of a classic the Powerpuff Girls is, I wouldn’t name them that if it wasn’t a more “realistic” name like maybe Marco or Mabel. The reboot is terrible, so that makes me more reluctant to use it.
The name Blossom was given to 41 girls born in the US in 2015.
As a girl who is named Blossom, I can give two things.
1) Naming your child Blossom WILL get her called a Powerpuff Girl. It is a given, at least in this current generation. It's not commonly used in a teasing manner for me though, and I actually prefer going by it than my first name- Blossom is my middle name, though my first name is just as flowery.
2) If your child is named Blossom, they will probably have quite a few friends, as people will trust them more. It is a light-hearted name that means 'new beginnings, new life, spring, and freshness' and is associated with kindness and good.
3) I pray you don't live in an area with wide knowledge of Opossums. Please do not name your child Blossom if you have wide knowledge of possums. That was, unfortunately, a common nickname during my childhood and it made me miserable. I laugh about it now though, as I make it into a personal joke.
This definitely works as a middle name or nickname. If you really like it, it also works as a first name. There is always the middle name alternative, so why not? I honestly don't see this as a bad name.
Well, I do like The Powerpuff girls, but on a human, this sounds odd.
Such a pink name. Blossom of The Powerpuff Girls wears pink.
I use it as a pet name for my girlfriend. 'Princess', 'beautiful' and especially 'baby' are all too common and Boo is taken by my dog. Finally thought of it thinking of The Powerpuff Girls. Buttercup wasn't appealing to me and Bubbles isn't as I guess, expressive?
I don't care if people dislike this name, I think its beautiful. I don't know why, it just is. :)
I don't think I'd ever put Blossom on a birth certificate, but it would make a cute, affectionate "pet" name/nickname for for a girl with a more serious flower name, like Iris or Violet.
Blossom Dearie was an American jazz singer and pianist.
W.H.L. Wallace, one of the finest Union Generals during the American Civil War, had a daughter-- Isabel-- whom he and his wife affectionately referred to as Blossom, as evidenced in their correspondence prior to his fatal injury at the Battle of Shiloh. Isabel later published a biography of her father, together with her parents' letters.
I would normally think of this type of name (Precious, Treasure, Princess, etc.) as tacky, but something seems to appeal to me about Blossom. I think it feels feels soft, light, and delicate, and also very sweet and literally flowery. And as for the Powerpuff Girls thing, I haven't watched that show in years and remember very little about it, so the association doesn't bother me.
In an historical novel I was reading, the main guy's sister was rattling off names of potential brides, and she came across "Lady Blossom Tremaine." The guy says, "I don't like her name" as a reason why he can't marry her. The sister insists that that's not Blossom's fault, but the guy explains (something like this): "I can't have a wife named Blossom, I'll feel like I'm calling the cow in every night!"I laughed for, I don't know, about a good five minutes. I could never curse a kid with this name.
I usually like flower names, but Blossom sounds silly as a given name. It makes me think of the Powerpuff Girls. I loved the cartoon, though, and at least it doesn't sound as bad as Buttercup or especially Bubbles.
Blossom Rock was one of the stage names of Edith Marie Blossom MacDonald (1895-1978). She's most well-known for her role as Grandmama in The Addams Family.
I think it's beautiful.
Well, there's no guarantee that the Powerpuff Girls will still be watched several years from now, but I kind of hope it will, as it turned into a guilty pleasure for me back in 2006 and I found it hilarious, ha ha. Just in case the Powerpuff Girls does turn into a classic viewed for decades to come, this name will sound pretty damn strange. But it sounds strange as it is. It really is quite literally a flowery name, and the whole blossoming thing makes people think of youth and being ''unfinished'', so the name is terrible for a girl past puberty. Oh, and speaking of puberty, the girl might get tacky jokes about *blossoming*. Not recommended.
Powerpuff Girl is the only thing I think of when I hear this name.
"Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, have dedicated their lives, to fighting crime, and the forces, of EVIL!"Sorry, Powerpuff Girls is the first thing that comes into my head, although that doesn't happen with "bubbles" or "buttercup". Probably because "Blossom" is the first name that's always said by the narrator, so she starts the intro off. Can't associate the name with anything else, but on the bright side--she was my favorite Powerpuff Girl! The smart, ice-breath blowing, redheaded leader. There are much worse things to share a name with.
"Blossom" could have a nameday on Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday (the Sunday before Easter) is the day of flowers and willows (the names of the other trees also have a nameday).
Reasons to name your child Blossom:
1. You are the #1 fan of the Power Puff Girls and your first two daughters were already named Bubbles and Buttercup in honor of the cartoon.2. Flowerchild syndrome. It explains a lot of things, but it shouldn't be taken out on your offspring.Again, TV has ruined a possible contender for a great name. Maybe in a couple generations it will be a good name for a person. Maybe.
I named my first parakeet Blossom, but I don't think I would name a child that.
In the early 90's there was the sitcom "Blossom", starring Mayim Bialik as the girl with the name.
