This is NOT AN ENGLISH NAME, the fact that it coincides with an English word is a coincidence and doesn't ruin it because NOT EVERYBODY ON THIS PLANET SPEAKS ENGLISH.
I’ll hazard a guess and say the current meaning of “bland” probably stems from people using it in a sarcastic and/or euphemistic way more often than not. In any case, it’s used almost exclusively as an insult nowadays, synonymous with “boring” or “flavourless”. Maybe in other languages it retained a more positive meaning, but in English, this is more likely to sound like a joke name than anything else.
Blandine von Bülow is the name of the younger daughter of pianist, conductor and composer, Hans von Bülow and his wife, Cosima Liszt (daughter of composer, Franz Liszt). Blandine became the stepdaughter of composer Richard Wagner upon his marriage to her mother.
