I think it sounds cute and dainty but I can see it on a grown woman too. It’s also the name of one of my favorite characters from The Big Bang Theory :)
Bernadette Peters (née Lazzara, b. Feb 28, 1948) is an award-winning actress, and singer. You may recognise her as the step-mother in Disney's live-action Cinderella starring Brandy Norwood, and Whitney Houston. She has also authored children's books.
I love this name! I wish I had a name like Bernadette instead of something "popular". Saint Bernadette of Lourdes is my confirmation saint. I wish that I could be more like her and love Jesus and Mary the way she did. What an honor and privilege it would be for a little girl to bear the name of Bernadette! Bring it back!

Great name. To be named after Saint Bernadette would be an honor.

I absolutely love the name "Bernadette"! It sounds strong and beautiful and intelligent at the same time... I wish it was my name! I have no idea why it is so uncommon, it is such a great name. To the Bernadettes out there: Be proud! You have such a lovely, underused name. People always remember a Bernadette, but there is nothing trashy or made-up or "youneeke" about it. A stand-out name, one of my all-time favorites :)
Bernadette Rostenkowski-Walowitz is a character on The Big Bang Theory. She's a close friend of Penny and Amy, and Howard's eventual wife. She is generally depicted as a good-natured person but can lash out or be provoked at times.

Bernadette is very rough and harsh sounding to me.
There's a beautiful (albeit a bit dark) song called "Bernadette" by IAMX, in which the singer is in love with a woman named Bernadette, and in one way or another he cuts her off from her loved ones so she can be his and his alone.

I am fond of this name. My grandfather was Bernard; What a beautiful tribute... and to modernize it, I would call my daughter Bette. I think it's edgy and modern and a little rock and roll. :)

There is a really beautiful song about Saint Bernadette called "Song of Bernadette" written by Leonard Cohen and sung by Jennifer Warnes. My mother used to play her album when I was little and I always thought Bernadette was a beautiful name, noble and feminine and comfortable. I also have a grandfather whose middle name was Bernard so if I have a daughter in the future, I may choose it for a first name. I didn't think it sounded old-fashioned, but anyway many old names are new again (like Atticus for boys etc.)
One of my best friend is named Bernadette, going by Bernie. I think it's a lovely name; not really my style, but beautiful. I love it's meaning: "brave as a bear".
I absolutely love this name. It's classy, graceful and feminine but not overly frilly - it reminds me a lot of 'Barbara' that way. Definitely on my shortlist. Besides, I love the story of St Bernadette.

I like the story of Saint Bernadette, so this would be a nice name.

This name is very classy and strong, but feminine. I'm not sure I like the sound of it that much, but I like it IN THEORY. I want to name my first daughter Bernadette, honoring my dad, Bernard.
My name's Bernadette (known as Berni by most), I quite like my name, I've never met another Bernadette (I live in London, England). I think Berni(e) is a pretty nickname for the name.
My uncle named his daughter Bernadette and she's 31 years-old now. I love the name, it totally fits my cousin. When I say she's my cousin, 'Bernadette', people ALWAYS remember her name. It's a unique and bold name and sure to be remembered and recognized.
