Well, apparently, I'm in the less-popular opinion here (at least in the comment section), but I love the name Benson, honestly. I think it's a very strong name, with a great balance between unique but not unheard of. Although I like it for both genders, I would probably prefer it for a female, mostly because of Detective Olivia Benson (played by the gorgeous Mariska Hargitay), whom I am an avid fan of. Overall, I think Benson is an awesome name. And if your name is Benson, I hope you're proud of it, because it's really cool.
