Meaning & History
Derived from בַּת־צִיּוֹן meaning "daughter of Zion". This name first appears as a personification of Jerusalem or the Judean nation (mainly in a negative context). appearing in (2 Kings 19:21, Isaiah 37:22, Isaiah 1:8, and Isaiah 54:1). As a modern Jewish name it probably was used as a feminine variant of Benzion or as a way to commemorate Jerusalem or the Israeli state.
