Barrie Keeffe (1945 – 2019) was an English dramatist and screenwriter. Best known for his screenplay for the gangster classic The Long Good Friday (1980), starring Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren, Keeffe demonstrated an interest in a variety of social and political issues, including disaffected youth and criminality.
Barrie Lee Hall Jr. (1949 – 2011) was an American trumpeter, music director, and band leader of the Duke Ellington Small Band. He was known for his use of the plunger mute to affect the tone of his trumpet.
I have only seen this spelling used for girls. I have known two girls with the name Barrie. Both of them have been Jewish (as am I), so I don't know if it's a Jewish thing or not. But with 'ie' at the end, I only see this spelling as a girl's name.
